I haven't blogged about Ral for a whole 4-5 days, so here goes:
I visited her all weekend and yesterday. She is I.V free! Two collection bags are left and that's it. One bag to drain bile and the other bag to drain the blood and guts from her wound (yes, that is the medical terminology). She was given her first real meal yesterday (not the liquid kind) which consisted of a turkey sandwich. She could barely eat half of it. Some of her stomach was removed and the other parts aren't used to doing anything so it's almost like having gastric bypass. She can only eats bits and pieces of things because she gets full so quickly. The good news is that she is keeping things down and it's moving through her because she had a bowel movement! (she is soo going to kill me when she catches up on my blog). It's okay Laurelle, we all poo. No need to be ashamed.....
We are still waiting for the pathology from the surgery. It's only been what? 10 days? Why expect them to do something quickly for once? She does little walks down the hall, and they usually exhaust her. It will be a while before she regains the energy that she once had.
The nurses and her doctor have been amazing. I recommend that hospital completely. Wonderful, wonderful people.
Hopefully she will be released this week. Once she is, Joanie (mom) will be taking care of her. She has now been in the hospital for 22 days.
My friend Andrea hasn't asked for her car back, so for that, I am thankful. She is an amazing friend. Otherwise I don't know how I would have survived. It has been so convenient.
I hope you are all well.
