I realize I am going to sound like an old bag here, but I don't even care.
I don't even attempt to turn on the "young" radio stations anymore. I can't stand almost 90% of the music they play on those stations.
Here is my biggest beef with these "youngins".
Almost every single flippin' song you hear has some sort of digital enhancement. This doesn't allow you to even consider that they can sing. Maybe they can? Who knows.
You know, I normally can't stand Rihanna, for this same reason. It wasn't until I heard this that I realized that she actually DOES have a beautiful voice. It's a shame that all of these newish artists have to hide behind this digitalization crap.

Sick of it yet?
Call me old, but I like to listen to music that sounds the same on the album as they sound like in concert. Pure voice. I can't even imagine what these artists (and I use this term loosely) would sound like in concert.
Personally, no one has ever sounded as good in person as Sade. You seriously couldn't tell the album version from the concert version- she was that good.
I guess I will continue to listen to the oldie stations. EZ Rock. Foxy.
Sad? I don't think so. It's decent music with mostly decent lyrics.
This post is actually dedicated to my friend Nicola, whose post yesterday made me think about how foolish lyrics are nowadays. ANYONE can be a song writer. Doesn't take talent.
Check out her blog. Hilarious.

Draaaaaaaaaaank.....that made me pee my pants.
But I have to say that yes, you are getting old Merdy-Pops. I happen to love the three links that you provided...and I especially love Rihanna. But I have thought for a very long time that lyrics and songwriting has become a joke....
There are a lot of talented new artists out there but you're never going to hear them if you're tuned in to commercial radio (or oldies stations) all the time.
Music magazines, blogs, good old fashioned word-of-mouth - that's how you discover the up-and-comers. How do you think I heard about Adele?
The voice synthesizer thing is getting out of control. It's so rampant right now it's like it's a new toy they just discovered. Puh-lease. The Parliment Funkadelic movement were all over that shit in the 70s. I can groove to those links you put up in a club but Christ, I can't stand it on the radio.
Nicola - I agree. I'll just wait for you to recommend new artists to me. So far you are 1 for 1.
I should have mentioned that I was referring to the new generation of R&B artists. It's such trash now.
My opinion, of course.
There's a lot of crap new-ish "rock" acts out there (Hinder, Nickelback, Theory of a Deadman, 3 Doors Down, Avril Lavigne, Daughtry, Simple Plan...sadly, I could go on) that are clogging up the airwaves as well and most of them also use that lame-ass, auto-tune technology. Mediocrity is not limited by genre.
Again, I agree. It sounds like all of these new "alternative" bands are constipated. I'm actually convinced that they are all the same band because there is no way of telling one constipation song from the next.

I love that Chris Brown song. And the Rihanna song is alright -but I find her painfully over played.
Anyhoo - I guess I am just abundantly youthful. Or, like whatever dude.
